Some stunning photos of fall from the High Bridge Trail in western VA

These are some pictures I took of the autumn colors while I was biking on the High Bridge Trail in Virginia. The High Bridge Trail is a trail in western Virginia that used to be a railway.The entire trail is about 39 miles long, but the best part is only about 9 miles away from the town of Farmville. The best part of the 39 mile long trail is a quarter-mile long trestle bridge over the Appomattox River. At its highest point, the bridge is 120 feet high. During the Civil War, Gen. Lee's retreating troops decided to burn the old bridge to stop the Union troops from crossing.

Cannons at Manasass

Some photos of cannons at the Manasass National Battlefield. All of these cannons were on the Northern lines. I don't know if you can see it in the picture, but in the photo looking down the barrel of the cannon, as a prank, someone aimed the cannon directly at a statue of "Stonewall" Jackson on his horse! Fredericksburg National Battlefield (Cemetery Ridge)

A picture of a statue/monument in the Fredericksburg National Battlefield at Cemetery Ridge. The statue is of two men, one is a union soldier, and the other is a confederate captain of a legion from Arkansas. During the battle of Cemetery Ridge, confederate troops hid behind a wall and shot at the approaching union ranks, which ended in the biggest union defeat since the Battle of Bull Run. During the battle at Cemetery Ridge, the captain from Arkansas convinced his men to jump the wall, and help treat the injured union soldiers' wounds. As he jumped the wall, the union ranks shot, and all missed. When they realized what the captain was doing for their injured men, the union ranks stopped shooting, and started shouting words of praise. In the statue, the Arkansas captain is giving an injured man a drink of water from a canteen.

Looking down a road for the 12th (?) time

Pinhole Camera

This is a picture looking down a road, but with an effect called pinhole. Before cameras were digitalized, a long time before, cameras captured light through a very tiny hole, so pictures always came out with the middle in black and white, and the border black. This effect recreates what a print from that kind of camera would have looked like.

Miniature garden

A picture of a garden with an effect that blurs the top and bottom of the picture. The blurring creates an optical illusion to make everything in the picture look smaller. Taken with the Camera + app. Effects used: clarity, miniaturize. Cropped to golden ratio.
